Gurumata Kaur - Director of Raj Yoga
Gurumata Kaur is passionate about serving Raj Yoga Center as its Director, to help all students have a great, uplifting experience. She is an artist, designer and Kundalini Yoga Instructor from Paris, France, has been practicing and teaching Kundalini Yoga since 1976 and is personally trained by Yogi Bhajan. Along with Gurumata Kaur’s dynamic, deeply meditative and rejuvenating classes, she teaches workshops in Art & Yoga Self-Healing and Subtle Body Art. She helps helps students via comfortable Kundalini Yoga that allows them to experience new inner strength and self-healing. Her students say she is a dedicated, kind, talented, easy-to-understand teacher who brings serenity, tranquility and happiness with each and every class.
Adarsh Kaur first met Yogi Bhajan in 1972 and moved into a Kundalini Yoga Ashram in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1973. Since that time she has been teaching Kundalini Yoga classes on a regular basis. She moved to the Herndon, Virginia community in 1995, and currently teaches yoga classes through Fairfax County, the Town of Herndon, and Raj Yoga Center. She sees the practice of yoga as one of life’s greatest joys, and she loves to share the technology.
Darshan Kaur Khalsa is one of the few “senior teachers” of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. She has been living, breathing and serving the teachings of Kundalini Yoga for 39 years in the greater Washington area. Upon graduation from University, she moved directly into an ashram so she could fully practice a yogic lifestyle. Her training included years of study with Yogi Bhajan, who first brought Kundalini Yoga to the West. From 1990-1996, she served as Program Director of Yogi Bhajan’s “Woman In Training Summer Camp” responsible for creating the curriculum and overseeing over 35 classes a week, covering the full spectrum of Yogic teachings and lifestyle.
In 1995, Yogi Bhajan personally directed Darshan Kaur to begin to train teachers. She is certified by Kundalini Research Institute as a lead Kundalini Yoga teacher trainer of Level 1 & 2 certification programs. She is currently offering Level One Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training Certification programs in Herndon, VA and Charlottesville, Va. She has trained hundreds of certified Kundalini Yoga teachers who are teaching in California, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Louisiana, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Oregon, Belgium, Great Britain, Cambodia, France, Spain and the Ukraine. She also contributed to “the Aquarian Teacher”, the main textbook used in all Kundalini Yoga Level one programs. Darshan is also the recipient of the International Kundalini Yoga Teacher’s Association “Building Communities in Yoga” award.
Darshan Kaur is registered with the Yoga Alliance at the 500-hour level and has taught over 17,000 hours of yoga classes since 1973. She has been on the faculty of Northern Virginia Community College teaching classes in Kundalini Yoga and Meditation for twenty four years. She is a Sikh Minister, 2nd Level Practitioner of the healing art of Sat Nam Rasayan, and a certified Past Life Regression Therapist.
For 40 years, she has been helping people elevate themselves to access the storehouse of resources built into the body, mind, and spirit. Yogi Bhajan said of Darshan Kaur, “She came here as a teacher– to elevate people. She has a powerful prayer to bring out the God in everyone.”
Gurunater Kaur Khalsa is a Reiki Master, Polarity Therapist, Therapeutic Touch Practitioner and a Sat Nam Rasayan Practitioner. She is also a Certified Hypnotherapist, Past Life Regression Therapist and a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists. She has been teaching nationally and internationally for 35 years, having studied Kundalini Yoga and Meditation and the Science of Humanology directly under Yogi Bhajan since 1976.She is certified to teach Kundalini Yoga and Meditation and has been an ordained Sikh Minister since 1984. She is a member of the International Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association and the Mid-Atlantic Yoga Association.
Linda was working in the corporate IT world when she discovered Kundalini Yoga. Within one month of taking her first class, she enrolled in the Teacher Training program and has never looked back. She’s completed her Level One Teacher Training and much of Level Two. Linda’s classic teaching style is adapted from one of her many teachers, Kartar Singh Khalsa. Linda is also a Level I and II certified Reiki Energy Healer in the Usui tradition, training with Gurunater Kaur Khalsa. Linda was born and raised in Manchuria, educated as a civil engineer, and came to the United States in 1996. Linda has a strong Buddhist family background, and her uncle, a Buddhist monk who trained at the Shaolin Temple, is among her mentors. Linda intends to teach Kundalini Yoga in Mandarin, both in America and in China.
Anne Meiser, RYT 200, certified Vinyasa teacher believes in the power of the body to transform the mind in unexpected ways. An accomplished yogi, athlete and instructor, she teaches a vigorous Vinyasa flow that gives a solid foundation for life’s physical and spiritual journeys. Her classes challenge students to strengthen their bodies and engage the core as a pathway to building inner strength. Anne is a manager of Bikram Yoga Reston, mother to three daughters, loves sunsets, music and movement and believes Savasana is the most important posture of all.
Christy Rees, RYT 200, has been practicing yoga in different forms for over 15 years. She has traveled extensively and practiced yoga all over the US and abroad. This has given her the opportunity to experience many different styles of yoga and teaching methods. She received her first teaching certification in Vinyasa yoga and since then she has continued to expand her knowledge with additional specialized teacher training. Christy has studied Trauma Sensitive Yoga with David Emerson and Veterans Yoga with Daniel Libby. She also completed two Kundalini-based teacher training; Radiant Child Teacher Training with Shakta Khalsa, and Family Yoga Teacher Training with Shakta & Kartar Singh Khalsa. For the past few years Christy has been focused on teaching classes for children with special needs and underserved communities. She is also passionate about community outreach to promote and support holistic lifestyles. Christy is currently the Leader of the Loudoun County Chapter of the Holistic Mom’s Network, a national Non- profit organization. Christy’ s passion for yoga and conscious living are evident in her life and her teaching style.
Beant Singh has been practicing and teaching Kundalini Yoga for 40 years, completing one of the very first Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training Courses held in San Raphael, CA in 1974.The experience of learning from a Master, Yogi Bhajan, and of seeing so many lives transformed by this healing and uplifting yoga continues to motivate him to share this sacred science.
Dr. Gurutrang Singh
Dr. Gurutrang Singh is a Doctor of Chiropractic & Acupuncture practicing in Herndon, VA since 1981, licensed by the VA Board of Medicine. He has been a Kundalini Yoga teacher since 1971. Dr. Gurutrang is a longtime member of the Khalsa Chiropractic Association whose original 30+ doctors were privately trained by Yogi Bhajan in advanced, ancient, deep healing techniques over many years during many week-long workshops with the master. Dr. Gurutrang lives up to his name which means “Resounding Waves of Joy Unto Infinity” by being a great guitar player, singer and songwriter of many fun, beautiful and inspiring Kundalini Yoga heritage songs, mantra renditions and morning sadhana chants. His professional understanding of healing, human body bio-mechanics, anatomy and physiology, acupuncture chi energy, diagnostic laboratory nutrition testing and herbal medicine, combined with Kundalini Yoga and live music for all of his classes make him a preeminent resource for conveying the teachings in an advanced, easy, understandable, musically inspiring, fun way.
